'Making the most of life'

Elmbridge Mencap is affiliated to Mencap but works independently on a local level for the benefit of people with learning disabilities and their parents/carers in the Elmbridge and surrounding areas. They offer help and advice in a practical way and hope to enrich the lives of all people with learning disabilities.

The charity provides leisure activities including a Social Club (Nova Club) for adults and a Youth Club for young people with learning disabilities on alternate Wednesdays (7-9pm) at Burview Hall.  Weekly Get Up and Go sessions are run on Thursdays; a morning and an afternoon session for those adults with profound learning disabilities. A Cinema Night is run once a month on a Saturday evening and a Family Fun Afternoon is run one Sunday a month, open to families with a child with a learning disability and their siblings to enjoy the facilities of the hall.

Burview Hall is a purpose built facility including two specialist sensory rooms and a games room, with a large screen with surround sound for film evenings, an interactive floor, an Omi-beam (interactive lighting system) and numerous other activities including skittles, new-age curling, boccia and board games.

Primarily run by volunteers, Elmbridge Mencap do not receive any support from other charity/government departments. They rely on income from hall lettings, fundraising activities, membership subscriptions, donations and grant awards. If you like to support please get in touch.
