The French Comté was created in early 2011 by Florent, Sylvain and Fabien Joly, all from the Franche-Comté region near the Swiss border in French Jura Mountains with a passion for food, wine and the artisan traditions of their region. They come from a long line of farmers, butchers and craftsmen who have been producing their foods and running market stalls for generations and now they are bringing the flavours of their mountains to Walton on Thames.

Their range includes the slow smoked Saucisse de Morteau, a delicious amber coloured pork sausage made following a traditional method that can be traced back to the16th century. Comté (aged 12, 18 or 24 months) and Mont D’Or are amongst our cheeses on offer. And look out for Cancoillotte, which is a very specialised, little known runny cheese that is believed to have been produced as part of the butter making process in the region for over 2000 years. Served hot or cold, flavoured with champagne, garlic Vin Jaune or walnuts, it is something to be experienced.

Find them at the Walton on Thames Farmers' Market on the first Saturday of every month from 9:30am until 2:00pm.
