The Walton-on-Thames branch of the West Surrey Family History Society runs a programme of talks by professional speakers covering various aspects of family history. Whether you are just starting out on your family history or have been exploring it for some time, you will find plenty to learn in the talks – whichever county or country your ancestors came from. Most of the Walton members, although living in Surrey, don’t have Surrey ancestors.

All meetings are held once a month from September to June, with a break in December. Meetings take place on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:45pm, at Ashley School in the centre of Walton, with free tea and coffee before each meeting. Come along and give one of the meetings a try. Non-members are very welcome (suggested donation £2 for non-members). If you would like to find out more about the scheduled programme of talks and speakers, visit the website for more information, using the website link above.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed last night’s meeting. I would never have thought I would have learned so much in an evening.

I very much enjoy attending the Family History Society meetings. We have interesting speakers and most of the talks give insights into researching our family history wherever in the country we come from, not just Surrey.
